Central Benefits group health insurance plans are offered to employers with 3 or more full-time employees.  Central Benefits is most competitive in the 50+ employee marketplace.  Health Insurance plans are offered in all the midwest states.

Central Benefits is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, a record not many other insurance companies can match. Established in 1938, Central Benefits got its start as the Columbus Hospital Service Association (the predecessor company to Central Benefits Mutual), specializing in pre-paid hospitalization.

Through the years we've been pioneers in the insurance industry, creating models for other companies. We were the first to introduce a pre-admission review program, offer coverage for hospice care and organ transplants and serve as innovators in prepaid hospitalization. We were also one of the first insurers to achieve 100% electronic data interchange (EDI) capability. Our EDI infrastructure is designed to accommodate the flow of huge amounts of information among buyers, payers and providers of health care services, and automate the exchange of clinical data.

The company has grown from a regional hospital service association offering only hospitalization insurance to a multi-state, full-line health insurer. Licensed in 24 states, Central Benefits and its subsidiaries provide comprehensive group insurance administrative services, as well as group medical, surgical, dental vision and life insurance coverages for groups and individuals.
