Special Features
Telemed does a good job in offering several big business benefits to the
individual including first dollar coverage for preventive care after being insured for three years.. A decent individual dental plan is an available option. Stand Alone Child plan option available for children ages
14 days to 18 years.
Rates and Service
Initial Rates are slightly higher than the most competitive carriers in the
area. A recent reduction in rates makes Telemed a bit more competitive. Customer service is quick and polite but problems sometimes take too long to resolve.
Underwriting and Billing
Underwriting is by health statement, medical records, and paramedic exams.
The underwriting procedures are not up to the standards of other major carriers. The added time and aggravation is a deterrent to buying this plan. Certain medical conditions can be accepted with a rate up of premium and no preexisting condition clause for that condition. Billing is by monthly bank draft or quarterly billing.
Renewal Rate History
Trustmark's renewals are similar to others in the same marketplace. We are not currently recommending this carriers plans.
