United Health Care is the largest
health care provider in the country. The 1995 acquisition of MetraHealth, which was the combination of Travelers and Metropolitan, helped make UNH a major force. United Health has terminated its intention of
merging with Humana.

in the country. United Health Care is on the New York Stock Exchange. (Symbol- UNH) United HMO has about 200 different physician groups at approximately 400 different sites severing Chicago area members.
Special Features
HMOs have no preexisting condition clause. You choose a primary care physician and obtain covered care only through the primary care doctor or
his/her referral. Maternity is included with all plans.
Rates and Service
Rates are in the medium to high category due to the extensive coverage with minimal out of pocket exposure. Service is very dependent on you
relationship with your Primary Care Physician(PCP).
Underwriting and Billing
Underwriting is by health statement and medical records. Underwriting is thorough. Expect medical records to be requested for most conditions.
Billing is by Monthly Bank Draft. Allow a good 6 weeks for underwriting.
Renewal Rate History
Renewal rates are accelerating faster than the last few years. Current new business rates are rising at about 1 1/2 - 2% per month.
